A Mediation is a process in which a neutral third party (the mediator) facilitates the resolution of a conflict between two parties. The mediator doesn't make decisions for either party, he or she assists in negotiations and settlements which are agreeable and beneficial to each party. Mediation is gaining ground as the preferred method of resolving disputes.

A Common conflicts include couples wanting a divorce or disolutionment, custody issues, shared parenting issues (post-decree), issues involving elderly parents and adult children, business issues, and issues with neighbors.

A Mediation saves you a significant amount of time and money and you remain in control of the process and the final outcome. Mediation can also reduce anger, tension and stress, and it is completely private and confidential. There are no public records. Plus, it enables parents to strengthen their parenting relationship with each other and with their children.

A Costs vary from practice to practice and depend upon the type of mediation, number of mediations, etc. Fees average $100 per hour, which is split by both parties. Mediation isn't covered by insurance. Just like legal fees, mediation is an out-of-pocket expense.
