Lora Hoffstetter, M.Ed., LPCC, co-owner of Avenues
Lora Hoffstetter has a Masters Degree in Community Counseling from Kent State University. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), an independent license issued for counseling by the state of Ohio. She specializes in individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Her focus areas are mood and anxiety disorders, self esteem enrichment, anger management, assertiveness training, adolescents who struggle with self mutilation, and individuals and families who need guidance coping with the trauma of divorce. Lisa Marie Borchert-Hrivnak, M.A.Ed., LPCC, co-owner of Avenues Lisa Marie Borchert-Hrivnak has a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Akron. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), an independent license issued for counseling by the state of Ohio. She has specialized in marital, relationship, family, and adolescent therapy for nine years. Her focus areas include adjustment disorders, adolescents and families in transition, blended family issues, and infidelity. She works with couples who desire to improve their communication with each other as well as couples who are seeking premarital and marital enrichment. Nancy Lowrie has a Masters of Science and Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) issued by the state of Ohio. She has received advanced training in Cognitive Therapy from the Cleveland Center of Cognitive Therapy. She has extensive experience working with children over six years old and adolescents with educational, psychological and behavioral issues. Further, she works with individuals, families, and couples dealing with issues of today, including substance abuse, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, anxiety, job related stress, men’s issues, relationship problems, grief, self concept and parenting. Nancy also specializes in working with adolescents on communication and social skills. She practices at Avenues’ Strongsville location.
Tiffany J. Peets, Ph.D, LPCC
Tiffany Peets has a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Akron. She has her Ph.D. in Counseling and Human Service Development from Kent State University, and she is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), an independent license issued for counseling by the state of Ohio. She specializes in helping couples recover from a trauma or crisis (i.e., extramarital affair, job or financial loss), as well as guiding couples who have a desire to enhance their communication and intimacy. She additionally works with adolescents and their families, specifically those who need more effective discipline and parenting strategies as well as parent-child relationship building. Noha Everetts, M.A.Ed., LPCC
Noha Everetts has a Masters Degree in Education and Human Development with a focus in Community Counseling from George Washington University. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), an independent license issued for counseling by the state of Ohio. She has completed further training at the Cognitive Therapy Institute. She specializes in working with adolescents and adults in mental health counseling including issues of grief and loss, anxiety and mood disorders, marital and family issues, stress management, and women’s issues. Marta Cutarelli has a Masters Degree in Counseling and Human Services and additional post-masters coursework in clinical counseling from John Carroll University. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), an independent license for counseling issued by the state of Ohio. She completed further intensive training at the Gestalt Institute in the “clinical couples and family therapy” training program. She has achieved diplomatic status with the American Psychotherapy Association and has over fifteen years experience in the mental health field. She specializes in individual and couples therapy with a focus on mood disorders, women’s issues, eating disorders, and victims of abuse. She practices at Avenues’ Strongsville location.
Kim Metz, Ph.D, Clinical Psychologist
Kim Metz has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University. She specializes in child and adolescent therapy, with a focus on child behavior disorders and eating disorders. Additional areas of specialization include adult individual therapy, marital and family therapy, and group counseling. Kim also teaches at the college level. Among other things, she educates students about human development, group process, and introductory psychology. She has been involved with both psychotherapy and teaching for the last 10 years and believes that her clinical and teaching experiences are invigorating compliments to each other. She practices at Avenues’ Medina location.
Carolyn Szweda, MSW, LISW
Carolyn Szweda has a Masters Degree in Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health from Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) issued by the state of Ohio. She specializes in child (ages 5+) and adolescent counseling, child behavioral issues, and individual and family therapy. Additional areas of specialization include depression and anxiety related disorders, stress and anger management, women’s issues, and parent-child relationship building. Jeffrey A. Bricker, M.Ed., LPC, CCDC-I
Jeffrey A. Bricker has his Masters Degree in Education from Cleveland State University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDC-I) issued by the State of Ohio. Jeff specializes in alcoholism, chemical dependency, and addictions counseling. He has extensive experience with this population in both the individual and group setting. Other areas of expertise include crisis intervention, family counseling, clients coping with transitional stressors, anxiety, and severe mood swings. Jeff’s clinical ability consists of pharmacological, behavioral and cognitive treatment of clients coping with diagnoses such as Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Paranoid Personality Disorder, Dependent Personality Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder (with or without psychotic features). Kristine Nickel Gayle , MSSA, LISW
Kristine Nickel Gayle received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University. Kristine specializes in working with individuals, groups, couples, and families. Her focus areas include women and couples struggling with infertility, pregnancy loss, post-partum depression, and other issues unique to women. Kristine is a Professional Member of RESOLVE: The National Fertility Association and has been exploring the emotional issues associated with infertility for over 12 years. Additionally, Kristine has expertise in working with adults and adolescents dealing with the crises of alcoholism and chemical dependency, grief and loss, anxiety and mood disorders, anger management, stress management, and in supporting parents seeking more positive and gentle approaches to parenting.
Beth Jacobs, MSSA, LISW
Beth Jacobs has a Masters Degree in Social Work from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences-Case Western Reserve University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) issued by the state of Ohio. She specializes in providing counseling for adolescents and adults whose daily functioning has been impaired due to overwhelming life stresses, lack of a support network, and limited problem solving methods. Beth provides counseling to these individuals with psycho-social concerns, marital and family problems, anxiety, and depressive disorders. Melissa McCutcheon has a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. She is a Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), an independent license issued for counseling by the state of Ohio. She is licensed to practice independently as well as to supervise clinicians working toward the independent counseling license. She specializes in working with men and women who need help restoring a healthy balance in their lives with the many roles they share; she also sees couples who are desiring to reestablish emotional intimacy in their marriage. Additionally she has experience working with adults who struggle with mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder as well as post traumatic stress disorder. Melanie Scherer, M.Ed., PC, CDCA
Melanie Scherer has a Masters Degree in Community Counseling from Kent State University, and she is currently working toward earning her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Kent State University. Melanie is a licensed Professional Counselor (PC) issued by the State of Ohio and she holds a certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA). Melanie specializes in chemical dependency counseling with adults and adolescents. In addition to chemical dependency, Melanie also has experience working with adults and adolescents who have suffered from issues related to depression, anxiety, social phobia, relationships, anger management, social skills, self-esteem, and difficulty in life’s transitions. Stephanie Heck, LMFT, CDCA, AT
Stephanie Heck is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Art Therapist. She received her training at Phillips Graduate Institute in Los Angeles. As an Art Therapist, Stephanie uses traditional talk therapy to supplement a variety of therapeutic techniques. She has worked with both chemical dependency and addiction and has been a CAPT Certified Myers-Briggs Personality typing consultant for 10 years. In addition, Stephanie is an adjunct faculty in the Psychology Department at Ashland University. Areas of clinical interest include couples therapy, divorce support, premarital counseling, men’s issues, adolescents, parenting skills, and co-dependency. She practices at Avenues’ Medina location.

Mary Anne Ricci has a Masters Degree in Clinical and Community Psychology from Cleveland State University. She has additional training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and is a member of the International Academy of Eating Disorders. Kristin E. Webb, MSSA, LISW
Kristin Webb has a Masters of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) issued by the state of Ohio. She has specialized in working with children and families over the last eight years in community agencies and medical settings. She has extensive experience working with children (3 years of age and older) who have been victims of physical and sexual abuse, and children who have been in the foster care system and adopted. She has also facilitated support groups and parent education groups. Areas of clinical interest include working with children and adolescents with Mood Disorders, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, and ADHD. She also works with children on improving self-esteem and social skills. Kristin practices at Avenues' Strongsville location.
