Robert (Bob) Howe, MA, LPCC-S
My name is Robert (“Bob”) Howe and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory designation (LPCC-S). I have a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Walsh University. I have experience in counseling adolescents, adults, and families, including individuals with anxiety, trauma histories, mood instability, behavioral concerns, OCD, and substance use challenges.
My approach to therapy depends on what each client needs. At times, I work in a solution-focused way, helping you address your most immediate struggles with clear goals and practical steps. When deeper work is needed, I take a supportive and honest approach to help you explore past experiences, make sense of long-held patterns, and understand how these experiences affect you today. I often help clients learn new ways of managing difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, along with improving their ability to tolerate discomfort in healthy ways.
In addition to working with clients on a wide range of concerns, I especially enjoy trauma-focused work, helping individuals heal from childhood trauma and longstanding emotional wounds. I also have extensive experience helping clients with anxiety and OCD through gradual exposure and response-prevention techniques, guiding them in safely practicing discomfort tolerance. I use motivational interviewing to support people who feel “stuck” or uncertain about change, and I integrate emotion-regulation and mindfulness skills for those who struggle with intense emotions or mood swings.
I am trained in the CAMS framework for suicide assessment and follow-up care, and I am currently completing additional training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. I also work with clients on the autism spectrum, individuals managing bipolar disorder (when stable and medicated), and those dealing with compulsive sexual behaviors or pornography addiction. For clients working on sobriety, I incorporate a 12-step–informed but non-religious approach when it aligns with their goals.
On a personal note, I bring a grounded, straightforward, and creative style to therapy. I aim to be both supportive and honest—someone who listens deeply but also gently challenges you when needed to help you grow.
