Maggie McCreary, MEd, LPCC
Hello! My name is Maggie McCreary, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. I work with adults on an individual basis. My specialties include Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, people going through transitional periods in their lives, and working with folks in the LGBTQ+ community.
When we start our counseling relationship, first and foremost, my goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental, and comfortable environment. I am rooted in person-centered therapy, which means I believe the strength of the therapeutic relationship is so important. I view you as the expert in your own life. My role is to bring my expertise, empathy, and commitment to help you achieve your personal goals. I use a blend of trauma-informed approaches and will work with you to find what feels most helpful for your unique needs and experiences. Some of the approaches I commonly use include Feminist Therapy, which focuses on empowerment and the ways our identities and experiences shape us; Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which can help with mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation; and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps us build a healthier relationship with our thoughts and feelings. For those diagnosed with OCD, I also integrate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy. Together, we can explore which strategies feel like the best fit for you while keeping your experiences and goals at the center of our work.
Congratulations on taking this important step toward improving your well-being! Seeking therapy is an act of self-compassion and courage, and you deserve all the kindness you’re offering yourself by starting this journey.
Personally, I love being outside. I love gardening. I love puzzles. I love my family and friends. I love cats. I love joking around and having a good time.
Thank you for reading this. I’m so excited to meet you!
