Mounir Ibrahim, PhD, MA, LPCC, CDCA

My name is Mounir Ibrahim, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) in Ohio. I hold a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Bradford (UK) and I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cleveland State University, where I graduated with highest honors. Prior to becoming a counselor, I spent over 40 years as a professor, department chair, and mentor in higher education, working closely with students, graduate students, and families as they navigated academic, personal, and career challenges.

I bring a warm, energetic, and deeply relational approach to therapy. My work is rooted in meeting you where you are, while helping you better understand how your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences shape your current challenges. I combine practical, solution-focused strategies with deeper exploration when needed, helping you build insight, develop healthier patterns, and move forward with clarity and confidence. I also incorporate cognitive and behavioral techniques to help shift unhelpful thinking patterns, along with supportive, person-centered work that emphasizes connection, trust, and growth.

In addition to working with a wide range of mental health concerns, I have experience supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management, and substance use. I have worked in both outpatient and intensive outpatient settings, including crisis response and substance use treatment, where I helped individuals and families navigate some of their most difficult moments. My background includes motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT-informed skills, and solution-focused approaches, allowing me to tailor therapy to each individual’s needs.

What sets me apart is the depth of life experience I bring into the counseling relationship. Throughout my career, I have mentored and guided hundreds of individuals through high-pressure environments, major life decisions, and personal struggles. My transition into counseling was a natural extension of this lifelong passion for helping others grow, overcome obstacles, and reach their full potential.

On a personal level, I am passionate about connecting with people, supporting them through life’s challenges, and helping them find meaning, resilience, and direction in their lives.
