Nicole Topp, MA, LPCC-S, LPAT

My name is Nicole Topp, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Designation (LPCC-S) and a Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT). I have a Master's degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College. I have extensive experience providing counseling for children, counseling for teens, and counseling for adults. I especially enjoy working with children and adolescents experiencing ADHD, anxiety, school or academic difficulties, peer and social challenges, and major life transitions. I also work with adults experiencing anxiety, ADHD, grief, depression, and other emotional or life challenges.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and individualized to the person sitting in front of me. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and develop practical strategies for managing difficult emotions and situations. I also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, and improving relationships, as well as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help clients gradually face fears and reduce patterns of avoidance or behaviors that reinforce anxiety. With children and teens, I may also incorporate creative approaches such as art therapy and sand-tray therapy, providing different ways to express and explore thoughts and experiences that may be difficult to put into words.

In addition to working with people with a variety of mental health concerns, I have particular expertise in working with children and adolescents, anxiety, ADHD, chronic medical conditions, life transitions, and trauma and PTSD. I have advanced training in trauma treatment, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I also have experience working with concerns including OCD, phobias, social anxiety, grief, and parenting challenges, as well as providing affirming support to LGBTQ+ clients.

When I'm not working, I love painting, crafting, and taking long hikes in the warm weather.
