Laura Langley, MEd, LPCC, CSAM
My name is Laura Langley, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Certified Specialist in Anger Management (CSAM). I received my M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University in 2020 and have experience counseling adolescents ages 14 and older and adults in community mental health and private practice settings. I have particular expertise working with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, anger management, and major life transitions.
My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop practical skills for managing difficult emotions, tolerating distress, and improving the way they respond to challenging situations. I also incorporate mindfulness and an understanding of how our minds and bodies can respond to stress and traumatic experiences.
I have extensive training in trauma and PTSD and especially enjoy helping clients understand how past experiences may continue to affect their emotions, relationships, behaviors, and sense of safety in the present. My work focuses not only on reducing distress, but also on helping clients develop healthier coping skills, greater emotional awareness, and a stronger sense of resilience. I continue to pursue advanced training in complex trauma to further strengthen my work with clients who have experienced difficult or traumatic events.
As a Certified Specialist in Anger Management (CSAM), I also have particular expertise helping clients better understand what may be underneath their anger, recognize triggers and patterns, and develop healthier ways of expressing and responding to difficult emotions. Anger can affect relationships, parenting, work, and overall well-being, and counseling can provide practical tools for responding differently when emotions become overwhelming.
In addition to working with a variety of mental health concerns, I enjoy working with adolescents ages 14 and older who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, social anxiety, anger, grief, family changes, or difficulty navigating the transition into adulthood. I also have particular expertise in parenting support, helping parents better understand emotional and behavioral concerns, strengthen communication, and develop healthier ways of navigating challenges within the family.
I am also trained and experienced in supporting individuals and families affected by addiction and codependency. This may include helping clients understand unhealthy relationship patterns, establish healthier boundaries, reduce over-responsibility for another person's choices, and care for their own emotional well-being while someone they love is struggling with addiction or other difficult behaviors.
As a Certified Yoga Teacher, I can incorporate trauma-informed yoga, breathwork, meditation, and Yoga Nidra into counseling when appropriate and desired. These mind-body approaches can provide additional tools for managing stress, increasing awareness of physical and emotional responses, and developing ways to feel more grounded. I can also provide individualized restorative yoga practices that clients can safely continue using outside of sessions.
I also work with clients experiencing grief, relationship changes and divorce, OCD, social anxiety, women's concerns, and pregnancy or postpartum-related concerns, and I provide affirming counseling for LGBTQ+ and transgender clients. Whether your focus is on a current challenge or a longstanding pattern, my goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can better understand yourself, develop practical tools for change, and move toward greater balance and well-being.
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy hiking, reading, doing yoga, and spending time with my three teenage children and three dogs.
