Tyler R “T.R.” Elliott, M.Ed, LPC
My name is T.R. Elliott and I am a licensed professional counselor. In my work, I am often found accompanying and collaborating with individuals ages 10+ with experiences often related to anxiety, ADD/ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, self-esteem issues, men's issues, adjustment stress, and burnout.
While I have a diverse range of experience behind me and am keen to adapt to any presenting concern, I find working with folks willing to investigate their self-esteem and "unquestionable truths" they live by to be very meaningful work in therapy which can allow us to discover ourselves in a way that is accepting of the unpredictable experience we simply label "life." I am keen to challenge and also affirm the "you" that you bring into session to collaborate in finding meaningful change and perspective.
In my work, I have been noted to be grounded, impassioned, and persistently curious. For those seeking a specific approach, to describe mine, I specialize in utilizing an "eclectic" (fancy word for "combined") approach that primarily utilizes interventions from a trauma-informed, client-led acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) mixed with other interventions from informed family systems (IFS), emotionally-focused, relational, existential, and gestalt therapies. Of course, if you are unfamiliar with those approaches and therapy words, that is perfectly okay! I always approach therapy without a "one-size-fits-all" perspective, am always happy to educate along the way, and strive to be as person-centered as possible in an effort to help you further build upon your personal values, what drives you, and how to re-negotiate your relationship with the thoughts and emotions that you feel hold you back.
Outside of the therapy hours, I am often found spending time with my lovely fiancée and our two cats (Nezuko & Willow), making fancy forms of coffee, or just enjoying books (mostly sci-fi, manga, and philosophy) or music (midwest emo, rap, indie, and other alternative/experimental genres). I wear my inspirations on my sleeve, as I find art to be an ever-meaningful way of connecting with the worlds we carry within ourselves.
“I look forward to working with you in the effort to find wellness and sustainability in your life as you journey on. "Asking for help does not make you weak, it makes the journey possible!" (- Clara Barton)
